Un arbre de Noël pour les enfants malades du centre de santé d'Azaguié

La Fondation AFLÉ organise un arbre de Noël pour les enfants malades du Centre de santé d'Azaguié, en Côte d'Ivoire. Le Centre de Santé Urbain d'Azaguié est un établissement médical public qui se trouve à environ 1 heure d'Abidjan, la capitale de la Côte d'Ivoire.

Le centre accueille 290 patients vivants avec le VIH, à savoir 246 adults et 44 enfants.

Pour cette fin d'année, la Fondation AFLÉ a choisi de célébrer Noël avec les enfants malades du centre et leurs familles. L'évènement est prévu pour la mi-décembre. La Fondation AFLÉ également d'apporter un soutien au centre médical qui a un besoin criant en ce qui concerne le matériel médical.

Ce projet s'inscrit dans les objectifs de développement durables #3: Permettre à tous de vivre en bonne santé et promouvoir le bien-être de tous à tout âge. L'ODD #3 inclut la santé mentale, dans le cas présent, la santé mental de l'enfant.

Helping fight obstetric fistulas

The NGO Sauvons 2 vies , in partnership with The AFLÉ Foundation, proceeded with the distribution of medical kits to young mothers to prevent obstetric fistulas, in the health district of Boauké, central part of Côte d'Ivoire.

The next edition will take place in Korhogho, in the northern part of the country.

"In Côte d'Ivoire, the prevalence of obstetric fistulas was estimated to 9424 cases with 250 new cases each year. Since 2003, The United Nations Population Funds (UNFPA) and its partners, have initiated an international campaign to eradicate obstetric fistulas in the world. In Côte d'Ivoire, this programm has helped around 100 000 women recover physically and emotionally."

Teenage pregnancy is a scourge in Côte d´Ivoire. Most of the time, it is seen as a dishonour and families drive the young future mothers out of the house. They are left with themselves and end up living in the streets.

NGO Sauvons2vies has been working with young pregnant girls for over 10 years. The organization takes care of their needs during the pregnancy and help them deliver their babies. Most of the time, the young mothers refuse to keep the baby as they have no money to take care of themselves. The baby is then brought to a local orphanage and the mother returns to the streets.

The NGO Sauvons2vies and AFLÉ Foundation have partnered to find a place, a shelter (Le Refuge) where these new mothers can stay in order to receive the appropriate medical and psychological support after the delivery.

Experience has shown that when these young mothers are supported after the delivery, they are less inclined to abandon their babies and to experience postpartum depression.
